Privacy Policy

This page explains what information LustyTech collects when you visit the site, leave a comment, or send us a message through a form. It also covers how we use that data, how long we keep it, and the choices you have over your own information. We have tried to keep the language plain, because privacy policies should not require a law degree to understand.

1. What We Collect

We collect only the information that is necessary for the site to function and for us to respond to your requests. The categories are:

  • Data you submit through forms: your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
  • Technical data: browser type, device type, operating system, approximate location derived from your IP address, and pages you visit on lustytech.com.
  • Analytics events: which articles you read, how long you stay on a page, and whether you click links to external retailers or manufacturers.

We do not collect payment details, because we do not process transactions on this site. We also do not ask for sensitive personal data such as health information or government identifiers.

2. How We Use Your Data

The information we collect is used for a limited set of purposes:

  • To respond to enquiries you send through our contact form.
  • To improve the content on this site by understanding which reviews and guides are most useful to readers.
  • To diagnose technical issues, such as pages that load slowly or errors that occur on certain devices.
  • To remember your preferences, such as whether you have dismissed a notice about cookies.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising profiling.

3. Cookies and Tracking

Like most websites, LustyTech uses cookies and similar technologies. Some cookies are strictly necessary for the site to work, such as those that keep your session secure. Others help us understand how visitors use the site through privacy-respecting analytics.

We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies. If we later add a feature that requires a new type of cookie, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent before enabling it.

4. Forms and Messages

When you send us a message through the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and the text of your message. We use this information only to reply to you. We do not add your details to a marketing list unless you explicitly ask us to.

Messages are stored in our email system and are typically deleted after 12 months, unless there is an ongoing conversation or a legitimate reason to keep them longer, such as a warranty claim or a dispute.

5. Third-Party Processors

We use a small number of service providers to run this site. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obliged to protect it:

  • Web hosting provider that stores the site and its database.
  • Analytics service that helps us understand aggregate traffic patterns.
  • Email and form provider that handles messages sent through our contact page.

These providers may store data on servers outside South Africa. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards to ensure your information remains protected.

6. Data Retention

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected. Form submissions are kept for up to 12 months. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individual users after 26 months. If you ask us to delete your data earlier, we will do so unless we are legally required to keep it.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request that we correct inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing activities.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

If you are in South Africa, the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) applies. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the GDPR applies. If you are in California, the CCPA applies. We will honour these rights regardless of your location.

8. Honest Content Commitment

LustyTech does not publish misleading claims, fake urgency, or fabricated endorsements. Reviews are based on real testing of products in South African homes. Where a product was provided by a manufacturer for review, we disclose that in the article. We do not claim official affiliation with any brand unless one exists, and we do not guarantee specific results from any product we discuss.

9. Contact Us

If you have questions about this policy, want to exercise any of your rights, or believe your data has been mishandled, please contact us:
